Western Freight

The Challenge:

Western Freight faced difficulties managing its operations due to the lack of separation between its servicing and parts departments. Both departments shared a single, open warehouse without dedicated offices or storage areas. This setup caused confusion over responsibilities, made inventory management difficult, and allowed unrestricted access to all parts of the facility. As a result, Western Freight struggled with tracking inventory and ensuring that employees were in the right areas.

The Solution:

Heighton provided a solution by dividing the warehouse into two distinct sections, one for servicing and one for parts. Each area was customized to meet the specific needs of the departments. The parts section was outfitted with additional storage to help organize inventory, while the servicing area was optimized for vehicle work. Heighton also created separate office spaces for each team, improving communication within the departments. To further enhance security and organization, access to each area was restricted to authorized personnel only.

.

Outcome:

The changes made by Heighton had a positive impact on Western Freight’s operations. By dividing the warehouse, Western Freight could better manage both the servicing and parts areas. Inventory was easier to track, and employees had clear roles and spaces to work in. The access control measures also reduced unauthorized access and improved overall security. As a result, the company saw improved efficiency and organization in both departments.
